Kolkata is popularly known as the 'City of Joy'. It is the second largest city of India and boasts of having the first  metro rail system in the country. It is a simple and well planned city. It was the former British capital of India and boasts of having an illustrious past which reflects through the fascinating art, marvellous architecture and the amazing literature of the city. It is a quite, peaceful city and the people here are simple in nature.

HOW TO GET THERE:

By air: Kolkata is connected to all the major cities in India by the Dum Dum airport.

By rail: This city is  connected to all cities in the country such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore by rail.

By road: Kolkata is connected to the neighbouring states through state highways and national highways.


BEST TIME TO VISIT: The best time to visit Kolkata is in the winter months between October and February when the climate is pleasant.

Kolkata is a simple city. It comprises of a majority of the Bengali population, along with some people from the north eastern states of India such as Manipur, Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram. Migration and urbanisation has developed the city much more .It is an important centre of trade, commerce, education and tourism. Kolkata is a city I would always love to visit.
