                                                                      MUMBAI MERI JAAN

It is rightly said that Mumbai is a city that never sleeps. Taking for example, yesterday in Mulund, I saw an unusual long queue at a bus stop in Mulund which stretched for atleast 1 kilometer. In this covid 19 pandemic, it was such a risky thing. Also they weren't bored to stand in such a big queue. This was hilarious!!  People were so optimistic and focused towards their work and goal, that the covid pandemic did not seem to deter them and they were nicely at ease in carrying out their daily routine work. Such is the spirit of Mumbai that nothing can stop people from moving on in life. The ongoing Covid pandemic has largely affected the livelilood of the common man, still people are trying to get back to work inspite  of facing so many insecurities and discomforts of Covid 19. This is the charm of this city. May it be an epidemic or a terrorist attack, the city is back on its toes the next day with enthusiasm and determination. This is the spirit that defines Mumbai from other cities of the world.

When we try to describe Mumbai, various problems such as overpopulation ,pollution , poverty , traffic  and congested roads of the city come to our mind. But inspite of so many problems, people are determined to keep moving on and getting back to normal life.  This attitude impresses me the most. People from India and all over the world reside in Mumbai. Mumbai has and will be a home to all cultures and backgrounds. People are always there to help each other. There are many tourist spots and recreation centres in this city which make people free from work. There is so much diversity in the culture and way of life in Mumbai which can make every individual proud of living in this city.

I have lived in this city all my life and will continue to do so. The attitude and spirit of the people here impresses me the most. I am proud of being a Mumbaikar and will always stand up to support this beautiful city.

                                                     Snake found in Mulund society.

A rattle snake was found in Mahavir Shikhar , a housing society on LBS road in Mulund west. It was a non-poisonous snake that entered the building premises. Luckily , a man arrived quickly and caught the snake before it could harm anybody. A ground floor  resident said that sometimes snakes do come in the building due to the presence of a well nearby. Initially there was fear and panic as the snake started entering the building and started to go upwards towards the first floor. Thankfully timely help averted any tragedy.

This photo was captured from the 35 floor in runwal Anthurium, a posh residential complex on LBS road in Mulund west. Clear skies, the lush greenary and high rise buildings make the view look even prettier and lovely.

                                                           Ganpati Bappa Morya

Mumbai recorded the quietest Ganpati celebration  ever in the last 10 years due to the coronavirus outbreak. With Lalbaugcha raja, Andhericha raja and Chinchpoklicha raja getting scrapped, it was sad to the huge Ganpati mandals empty this year. With the noise pollution levels  going down  significantly, utmost concern towards environmental balance was shown this year. Mulund was one among the quietest suburbs. People opted for smallest Ganpatis and immersed them at their homes or in artificial ponds and lakes. Juhu chowpatty, Girgaum chowpatty and Versova beach wore a deserted look . The coronavirus pandemic was the reason that crowds did not gather this year and the festival was celebrated on a smaller scale. Utmost care of the environment was taken. It was a different experience altogether without any noise and celebrations being conducted. While bidding farewell to Lord Ganpati, lets hope for a better and grand celebration next year.

                                                      The Quarantine  effect.
It is a tough situation for everyone in the world right now while fighting the deadly coronavirus. Everything is shut and has come to a standstill. If we think properly and analyse this quarantine period , it is a blessing in disguise. This quarantine period of staying at home is giving us enough time to cultivate our hobbies and talents . It has given us a break from the normal hectic life that we lead. It is a good chance to spend more time with our loved ones and practise  activities which we love and could not do in our daily lives. Going outdoors is a risky job and I agree some us are feeling bored sitting at home and waiting to get back to work as fast as possible. But if we think closely, this quarantine has given us enough time to relax. So , let us make the best use of this time because we don't know whether it would come again.
